What's the most challenging thing about your job?

Engineering at Conversant is constantly pushing to raise the bar, set the standard—which drives us to explore new technologies and solutions. We're always learning something new, and there's very little routine work. Change is hard, but it is good too.

What technology are you most passionate about?

I am passionate about Big Data technologies such as: Hadoop, Kafka, Storm, Flume and NoSQL databases.

What's the best thing about working here?

There are outstanding engineers here who embrace teaching and mentoring. The opportunity for personal growth is exceptional; there is never a dull day in our team.

Describe your role.

I build systems that can analyze and classify web pages automatically. More specifically, I work on natural language processing and machine learning with text data.

What's the best thing about working here?

The opportunity and independence provided to work on important projects. And my awesome coworkers make sure the workplace is never, ever dull. Also, the outings and happy hours!

What's the most surprising thing about you?

I can hold my own on a dance floor. I was surprised myself.

What's the most interesting thing about your job?

What did you do before coming to Conversant?

I previously worked in the audio, interactive entertainment and satellite television industries, doing QA and Software Engineering.

What technology are you most passionate about?

I enjoy Java because of the many open-source projects and its ability to run anywhere.

What's the best thing about working here?

Working in an agile environment with professional people and in an atmosphere that helps promote great software, that makes you want to give your best.

What's the most challenging thing about your job?

Writing clean, maintainable and testable code that can be used for years. Writing software is an art form in an ever-changing landscape. What used to work may now be less than desirable, and one must constantly learn and grow to stay relevant.

What did you do before coming to Conversant?

I worked in the music industry, writing software for an amplifier and guitar manufacturer. The equipment was based on DSPs, allowing a single device to emulate hundreds of classic guitar tones.

What technology are you most passionate about?

There are so many insanely cool technologies out there right now, it's hard to choose just one. From self-driving cars to seeing pictures from Pluto and its moons, it's just amazing.

What's something that people would be surprised to learn about you?

I love to bake gluten-free goodies for Thanksgiving and Christmas.'

What's the most interesting thing about your job?

The most interesting and challenging part of my job is the problem-solving that can greatly vary from day to day. There is always something new!

What technology are you most passionate about?

I really enjoy learning about web technologies and frameworks.

What's the best thing about working here?

My coworkers are what make this a great place to work. Followed by the fact that I'm learning about our ad-serving network and about the various technologies that are used to make it work.

What do you do for fun?

I enjoy playing video games and following major league baseball.

What's the most challenging thing about your job?

Scale. There are few places that deal with the scale we do at Conversant. We handle more transactions, see more users, and work with more data in a day than most companies will in a year.

What technology are you most passionate about?

JavaScript. I know it's a "trendy" answer, but I feel that JavaScript's evolution over the last 5-7 years is truly amazing, and it's only just beginning to open up new and exciting possibilities.

What's the best thing about working here?

The people. I've never met a more intelligent, talented group of people anywhere.

Describe your role.

Our team focuses on the video advertising side of the company. We build and maintain large-scale distributed systems that process and feed data into a machine-learning pipeline.

What did you do before coming to Conversant?

I worked in various domains, including mobile, travel and finance. The advertising industry is very exciting, especially in this digital age, and Conversant is a great learning experience.

What technology are you most passionate about?

Lately, I've been educating myself on the subject of machine learning. It is a fascinating field with a large number of interesting applications, some yet to be implemented on a mass scale.

Describe your role

I lead the team that manages the Ad Stack deployments. I also manage Production Incidents tickets (assign and work with ad stack leads). I create reports for the Analytics team, QA team and others.

What's the most interesting thing about your job?

I get to work with a huge part of the organization (Analytics, Dev teams, QA and CI). Working with all of these organizations, I learn a lot about what and how we do things. I have to understand the Ad Stack, Analytics, and drive long-term solutions throughout the organization.

What's the best thing about working here?

The people I work with. I could list at least 10 people easily who are fun to work with. People are so willing to share information, and this helps learning.

What's something that peope would be surprised to learn about you?

I grew up a surfer and worked construction since I was 10.
